Lafitte is believed to have a close relationship with her two brothers, Pierre and Alexandre, in the family.

Also according to this document, Alexandre, the oldest of the three brothers, is said to have left to become a pirate, attacking Spanish ships passing through the Caribbean.

This is said to be the reason why the Lafitte brothers decided to move to Louisiana, USA, in 1807 to be sailors on a hunting ship, private means allowed by the government to attack and harass enemy ships.

At the time, the United States was imposing a ban on trading with the British, in order to avoid being dragged into Napoleon's war in Europe.

Jean Lafitte, with a height of more than 1.8 m and the cunning, intelligence, easily falls into evils such as gambling and alcohol, is considered to converge enough factors to become a pirate.

Barataria Bay is the perfect place to conduct smuggling, thanks to shielding islands that help protect the hideout.

Lafitte's group is said to have attacked and robbed more than 100 ships passing through the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico, stealing many valuable goods, including slaves.

The Baratarian pirates often hold auctions in the swamplands of southern Louisiana, while also stocking up on an inventory of cannons and gunpowder.

In 1814, in the midst of the Anglo-American War (1812-1815), the British tried to lure Lafitte and the Baratarian pirates to join their side against the US, by assisting the British in an attack.

Lafitte was offered the rank of captain in the British navy, along with the promise of amnesty for all the crimes of the pirates, to grant land and an amount of £ 30,000 (equivalent to 2 million USD compared to today's rates),

In addition to offering attractive terms, the UK also threatened to wipe out Lafitte's activities if he refused.

Because local authorities did not trust Lafitte and his bandits, the pirate sent another letter to Louisiana Governor William Claiborne, pleading that he was just "a stray sheep wishing to return to the herd.

However, Lafitte still failed to convince the Louisiana government.

While hunting for Lafitte and the rest of the pirates, US officials also faced the threat of the British invasion.

In the end, US General Andrew Jackson, who once described Lafitte as a "disgusting bandit", had to agree to summon him with state officials to discuss fighting the British.

After the meeting, Lafitte's subordinates were freed, acted as artillery soldiers and led the way for the Americans.

The Baratarian pirates quickly proved their worth to the American defense against the British, most evident at the Battle of New Orleans on January 8, 1815.

Thanks to the merits of the war, Lafitte's bandits were pardoned by President James Madison.

Despite threats from the US military and a massive storm devastating the region, Lafitte's new "base" remained in existence until 1821. However, Lafitte's fate after it was abandoned is only

An article in the 1940s wrote that Lafitte had moved to the city of St. Petersburg.

Despite committing a series of crimes, Lafitte and her accomplices are still considered to play an important role in the US victory in New Orleans.
