China: Two young people are trapped in snowy mountains trying to steal the Great Wall because they think they fit feng shui.

The 20-year-old and 26-year-old unnamed people from Langfang City, Hebei Province lost their way when they crossed a snowy mountain in Huai Nhu District, Beijing, near the Changcheng Mo Pass. Both were trapped on a 50 meter high cliff in the cold night of December 26, Beijing officials said today.

After about 4 hours of calling for help, the two were found trembling and exhausted and an empty bag was supposed to hold bricks, said Chen Funing, a member of the rescue team.

The police later discovered the two had eaten at a nearby restaurant and told employees they planned to steal 24 kg of bricks on the Great Wall. Both believe that the bricks on this historic building can bring good luck in the home.

The police allowed two people to go home after warning that the theft of bricks was illegal and dangerous.

Today, less than 10% of the 20,000 kilometer Truong Thanh built with bricks remains, but they are declining due to natural conditions and theft, according to Chinese government data.

In February, the police in Qinglong County, Hebei Province offered a reward of 50,000 yuan (US $ 7,150) to anyone who provided information about a series of brick-and-mortar incidents on a local ramp.
