South Korea recorded 142 new infections of nCoV, bringing the total number of Covid-19 cases in the country to 346.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) this morning released a statement that 92 out of 142 new cases of nCoV were linked to a hospital in Cheongdo district.

Last night, a 54-year-old female patient died at this hospital, several hours after being confirmed positive for the virus, becoming the second person in South Korea to die after becoming infected with the virus. The first death was a 63-year-old man who also died at Cheongdo Hospital on February 20.

Cheongdo district and Daegu city are now placed under "special management" by the Korean government for accounting for the majority of nCoV cases in the country. As of yesterday, the number of confirmed nCoV infections in Daegu and neighboring North Gyeongsang province was 153, of which 128 cases were related to the Shincheonji church (New Heavenly Yard), where a 61-year-old follower was identified. designated "Patient No. 31" and is believed to have spread the virus to dozens of others.

Cheongdo, 27 km south of Daegu, is the home of Lee Man-hee, founder of the Shincheonji sect. Local officials said three weeks ago, Mr. Lee's brother's three-day funeral was held in a hall of Cheongdo Hospital. More than 150 members of the New Heavenly Church were identified positive for nCoV.

The Covid-19 epidemic broke out in Wuhan from December 2019 and spread to 31 Chinese provinces. 30 countries and territories around the world had an outbreak of 77,672 people infected with nCoV, 2,360 people died.

The Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Vietnamese citizens should not go to areas where Covid-19 is endemic or likely to be affected by the epidemic. Vietnamese citizens present in Korea are recommended to regularly monitor and follow the instructions of the local authorities to prevent outbreaks.
