The move took place after CNN on June 8 published the survey results showing that Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden was 14 points ahead of Trump, with 55% and 41% respectively.

The campaign asked CNN to retract the survey results and publicize this "in a complete, fair and clear manner" as well as apologize and correct "false conclusions".

Matt Dornic, a spokesman for CNN declared the results of the survey unchanged, while David Vigilante, executive vice president and general adviser of CNN, told the campaign that their allegations and claims were denied.

"To my knowledge, this is the first time in my 40-year history that CNN has been threatened by legal action by a politician or US campaign that dislikes the results of CNN's surveys,"

Trump frequently attacked CNN, accusing it of falsely reporting and "an enemy of the people".
