The Pentagon activates a special program only in an emergency, exercising 18 civilian aircraft to evacuate Afghan people.

According to US defense officials, the aircraft will not enter the capital of Afghanistan's Kabul, but only transport the evacuation person to and leave the bases in Germany, Qatar and Bahrain.

The Pentagon has asked to require aircraft from 6 airlines for a period of one to two weeks.

The move was the latest efforts of the US President Joe Biden government to evacuate tens of thousands of Afghan people and other civilians from Kabul after the Taliban gained control of the city on August 15.

For the past week, Hamid Karzai International Airport is in chaos when the massive people pour here to seek the opportunity to escape Afghanistan.
