Minister Yellen's spokesman was said to have stabbed cold water into a trade agreement with China and also marked the first statement detailing the Biden administration's thoughts in the future of the agreement.

Washington and Beijing in January 2020 signed a trade agreement in the first phase under the Donald Trump government to fix the past false.

President Biden government now will have to decide whether they will retain agreement with China, or cancel or find another replacement agreement.

The early stages of the agreement benefited China, for the US and for the whole world, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce spokesman Cao Phong told reporters in Beijing last week.
