Floyd has lived for 46 years in the third district, where mostly black people are concentrated, in Houston, just two kilometers from the park.

"We will represent him," Trae Tha Truth told the crowd of hundreds of people gathered ahead.

After the prayer ceremony, the marchers left the park and walked to the town hall.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, a black person, said he understood their pain and they were making an impact.

"We not only listen but also have to act. I want you to know that your march and protest are not in vain. George did not die in vain."

There was almost no violent demonstration in Houston like any other American city.

Floyd was held by police Derek Chauvin in Minneapolis for nearly 9 minutes leading to death on May 25.

The autopsy report showed that Floyd died of "cardiopulmonary arrest due to the combined effect of being restrained and entrained by law enforcement officers," adding that death was "a murder".

Four police officers were involved in the dismissal, in which Chauvin was arrested and charged with a third-degree murder.
