British Foreign Minister said that China is in danger of destroying one of the "jewels" of Asian economy if Hong Kong security law.

"There is still time for China to reconsider, there is an opportunity for them to step back from the brink and respect Hong Kong's autonomy as well as China's international obligations," British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab said in advance.

The statement was made by Foreign Minister Raab after the Chinese parliament last week voted to pass a resolution on building Hong Kong security laws.

"The sad fact is that if China continues to follow this path, it will suffocate what has long been a jewel in the economic crown," Raab said, when asked to comment on the future.

After the Chinese parliament passed a resolution on security laws, Hong Kong dropped from third to sixth in the latest ranking of Z / Yen Global Financial Center, after New York, London,

The British Foreign Minister argued that the Hong Kong security law that Beijing was developing could violate the "one country, two regimes" principle stated in the Sino-British joint declaration in 1984 and contradict Article 23 of the Law.

Raab said he did not expect China to change its decision.

If China remains determined not to change, Britain will consider granting citizenship to Hong Kongs holding British passports, Raab said.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson previously wrote in an article published in the Times and South China Morning Post on June 2 that millions of visas will be issued to Hong Kong people, even British nationals, if China decides to issue them.

According to the British Prime Minister, about 350,000 Hong Kong people now hold a British overseas passport, which is exempted from visa to the UK for up to 6 months.
