An 89-year-old woman and an unidentified person were the first two deaths in Germany from nCoV infection.

"The 89-year-old woman tested positive for nCoV on 3 March after being hospitalized in critical condition. The patient's health continued to deteriorate, she died of pneumonia, despite supportive measures respiratory and circulatory aid, "the health official of the city of Essen, western Germany announced today.

The second death was recorded at the Heinsberg outbreak in the western part of the country, but local health authorities have not released patient information.

Covid-19, which originated in Wuhan in December 2019, has appeared in 109 countries and territories, causing more than 111,000 infections and more than 3,800 deaths. All EU member states have reported positive cases for nCoV, of which Germany is the third highest number of cases in Europe with 1,164 people.

Leaders of EU member countries prepared to meet via video conference to discuss Covid-19 response in the context that European countries did not have a unified action solution. Many countries accuse France and Germany of acting unilaterally by banning the export of some medical goods.
