According to military experts, this is an important test aimed at assessing the effects on the body of the Su-57 and pilots in an emergency, before putting the fighter on the Russian air force service.

In an emergency situation, when the pilot pulls the emergency exit lever, the cockpit glass cover will detach, the aircraft continues to fly without the glass cover for a few seconds before the ejection seat pops out.

The pilot on the "convertible Su-57" appeared to be wearing non-standard flying suit during the test possibly organized by the test center in Akhtubinsk.

Western fighters also tested fighters flying in the uncovered conditions of the cockpit.

BAE Systems said it was a "cockpit survival test", which was deployed to test fighters' emergency escape procedures.

The Su-57 is Russia's first 5th generation fighter, designed to compete with the US F-35 and F-22 and the J-20 China.

Russia has twice deployed the Su-57 to Syria in late 2018 and December 2019 to test actual combat.
