White House health adviser Fauci advised the Trump administration to soon restore ties with WHO, saying it was essential in the face of the pandemic.

"They are an imperfect organization. They make mistakes, but I want to see the mistakes corrected and let them become more in line with what we need," said Dr. Anthony Fauci, team member.

Fauci said he hopes tensions between the US and WHO will eventually be resolved in one way or another, as the world needs WHO for current outbreaks.

The United States on July 7 sent a notice to leave WHO accusing it of responding slowly to Covid-19 and favoring China during the pandemic.

According to records provided by WHO, the US owes more than 99 million USD in aid commitments.

China has criticized the US decision to withdraw from the WHO, saying that this will affect the world's ability to cope with Covid-19 and seriously impact developing countries that are in dire need of international support.

Fauci also objected to the United States' departure from WHO, saying "WHO is an imperfect organization, making some mistakes but they have also done many useful things" and affirmed "the world needs WHO".

Covid-19 has appeared in more than 210 countries and territories, causing more than 13.4 million infections and nearly 582,000 deaths.
