Chinese President Xi Jinping signed the Hong Kong security law with 6 chapters and 66 articles to put into the Basic Law of the Special Zone.

Chinese state media confirmed that the National Security Protection Act in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region was signed by Xi this afternoon.

In a statement published at 6pm today (4pm Hanoi time), Xinhua said the Hong Kong security law was passed by the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of China at its 20th session, to ban separatist acts,

The Act consists of 6 chapters, 66 articles, stipulates the responsibilities of organizations that maintain national security in Hong Kong, and identifies 4 crimes of infringing upon national security.

The Standing Committee of the National Assembly of China also passed a decision to include the law in Annex III of the Basic Law, acting as a sub-constitution of Hong Kong.

Chinese National Assembly Chairman Flip Chien describes the Hong Kong security law "as a reflection of the aspirations of people nationwide, including Hong Kong."
