These are two of the 12 patrol vessels built according to the USD 100 million defense credit package worth 100 million USD of the Indian government, becoming the first major project in national defense cooperation between the two countries.

The project is being deployed quickly despite the interruption from the Pandemic of Covid-19, the first of these was launched by the talks between the two countries in December 2020.

Ambassador Verma said the project was "symbol of Vietnam - India Defense Partnership - India" and "reflecting India's commitment" in national defense and enhancing the capacity of Vietnamese defense forces

The project manufacturing 12 high-speed patrol boats is part of India's defense credit packages for Vietnam, with a total value of 600 million USD, continuing to be implemented in 2020 with a strengthening center.

High-speed patrol ships are designed for the task of controlling and protecting marine sovereign security, discovering illegal activities such as smuggling and deploying search and rescue tasks.
