Two barges are installed a series of radar signal reflexes, often used as the target for catching in real bullets of the Russian Navy Black Sea Fleet.

The target bar and smoke screen were deployed at Kerch Bridge in early July. Photo: Twitter/Covertshores.

The video shared on social networks on July 1 also shows the thick white smoke covered with bridge.

These are abnormal measures, showing that Russia is improvising.

According to this expert, the target bar is not designed to protect the infrastructure, but can be effective if Ukraine attacks the Kerch Bridge with Harpoon missile.

This seems to be a part of difficulties for reconnaissance equipment and radar -proof weapons, protecting Europe's longest bridge from Ukraine's raids.

A series of moves took place two weeks after Ukrainian General Dmitry Marchenko, who was in charge of protecting the southern province of Mykolaiv, proposed attacking the Kerch Bridge after receiving the Western modern weapon.

The Kerch strait bridge project was started in 2015, after Russia merged the Crimea peninsula, and completed in 2018. The bridge worth billions of dollars connecting the Crimea peninsula with the Krasnodar region in southwestern Russia.

After opening a military campaign in Ukraine in late February, Russia used this bridge to transport armored vehicles to southern neighboring areas.

Western military experts believe that the Kerch Bridge is a very attractive goal for the Ukrainian army, but identifying that they do not have an effective weapon to launch this location.

The Kerch bridge connects the Crimea peninsula to the Krasnodar region in southwestern Russia.

Ukraine also does not own missiles launched from the ground to attack the Kerch Bridge.

Improved Harpoon versions have a smaller warhead and a range of nearly 300 km, but it is unclear whether Ukraine will be transferred to this missile model.

Even when the Kerch Bridge is within the range, Harpoon missiles are not designed for the task of attacking ground targets in coastal areas.

General Marchenko, in charge of defending southern Ukraine, said that the military should attack the Crimea bridge with Russia as soon as he received Western weapons.

Ukraine often uses small UAVs, difficult to detect and release balloons to create fake targets to make it difficult for the Russian air defense.
