The Russian media and the Donetsk People's Republic of the People's Republic said that North Korea has recognized independence of two areas of eastern Ukraine.

The leader of the People's Republic of Donetsk (DPR) claimed to Denis Pushili on July 13 wrote on Telegram that he hoped for effective cooperation and trade enhancement with North Korea, after the country recognized two regions independently.

DPR's representative agency at Moscow posted a telegram of the Korean Ambassador to Moscow Sin Hong-Chol awarded recognition to the DPR Olga Makeyeva special envoy.

Tass then said the Korean Embassy in Moscow confirmed the information.

Pyongyang and Kiev have not commented on information.

The provinces of Donetsk and Lugansk are located in the Donbass region, eastern Ukraine, becoming a hot spot since 2014, after the people here demanded an unsuccessful autonomy and organize the armed protest movement.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 21 recognized DPR and LPR independently.
