The Korean police questioned the Belgian Embassy's wife because of the accusation of assault after slapping the clothes owner, but did not announce her testimony.

An investigator Yongsan police station, the center of Seoul capital, said Ms. Xiang Xueqiu, the wife of the Belgian Ambassador in Korea Peter Lescouhier, was questioned in the afternoon of May 6 for the accusation of assault.

The investigator refused to disclose her testimony and did not confirm whether she gave up diplomatic exemptions.

The scene from security cameras on April 9 showed Xiang Xueqiu Xiang Xueqiu to pull and hit the head of an employee in Seoul's clothing store, after being misunderstood as stolen, because of Mrs. Xiang's jacket

The video also showed Xiang Xueqiu talking to two policemen at the scene.

The Belgian Embassy in Seoul said that Ms. Xiang is a lady of an ambassador, entitled to diplomatic immunity but will cooperate with the police.

The incident was widely shared on social networks, making some Koreans indignant and asked the Belgian Embassy to apologize.

The Lescouhier Ambassador then posted Facebook that he "sincerely got a party about his wife related incident" and wanted to "on behalf of her to apologize".

However, some Koreans are angry.

"I'm sorry in that tone. Do you really reflect your country's stature," said one person on Naver, South Korea's largest portal.
