The Russian Su-30 fighter border has twice bombed phosphorus on Zmiinyi Island at about 18h.

According to international conventions, phosphorus weapons are banned from use for civil goals, but are still allowed to deploy for military goals, as well as to create smoke and lighting on the battlefield.

Snake Island has an area of about 17 hectares, located on the Black Sea, about 35 km from Odessa port of Ukraine.

Although there is almost no natural resources as well as the permanent military basis, the island plays an important role in controlling the Black Sea transport routes, including the road to Odessa port.

The Russian Defense Ministry on June 30 announced that the withdrawal of the snake island after completing the mission, and called this a goodwill gesture to create conditions for Ukraine to export cereal.
