Joe Biden's inauguration on January 20 will be very different from its predecessors in terms of size and etiquette due to Covid-19 and security concerns.

The inauguration will start at around 11:30 (23:30 Hanoi) on January 20 with music performed by the US Marine Corps, chaired by Senator Roy Blunt, chairman of the Committee.

Vice President-elect Kamala Harris is scheduled to be the first to take the oath in front of Supreme Court judge Sonia Sotomayor before 12 o'clock.

Approximately 1,000 guests will attend the ceremony, most of them parliamentarians and their guests.

After Biden is sworn in, 21 cannons will be heard to welcome.

Some of the famous quotes from former presidents will be quoted in this inauguration address, such as the statement by former President John F. Kennedy: "Don't ask what the country can do for you, ask

Details of Biden's speech are kept under wraps, but the team in charge said he will offer a vision of "defeating the pandemic, building a good country again, uniting and healing the nation"

When he was a candidate for president, Biden said that his campaign was "the battle for the soul of America".

In recent days, Biden mentioned a huge bailout to deal with pandemic and economic recession, and outlined a plan to accelerate the vaccination campaign.

After his inauguration speech, Biden will move to the east side of Capitol Hill to review the honor team, a longstanding tradition of helping the new president evaluate military capabilities.

After that, Biden, Harris and former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton and their wives will travel to Arlington National Cemetery to place a wreath to visit the Tomb of the Unknown Warriors.

The president-elect will be escorted from 15th Street to the White House by honor squads representing all military services, before virtual parades across America take place in the afternoon.

One of the big differences of this year's inauguration is that the outgoing President Donald Trump will break the past 150 years of tradition by declaring not to attend the event.

According to tradition, after giving his inauguration speech, the new president will send off the former president to the Marine One landing place to allow him to leave Washington.

Biden called Trump's decision not to attend "one of the few things that I and he agreed with".

Vice President Mike Pence will be present at the ceremony with former US presidents.

The inauguration took place two weeks after pro-Trump protesters caused a riot in the US congress building that killed 5 people, so this would be the inauguration with the largest security presence in history.

25,000 National Guardsmen will be deployed that day in response to security concerns, five times the number of US troops currently stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser extended the emergency after the January 6 riots through to January 21 over concerns of additional security incidents.

Despite security concerns, Biden and Harris are determined to take the oath outdoors on the west side of Capitol Hill.

Another difference of the inauguration this year is the attendance.

The event will be streamed by the Presidential Inauguration Committee.

Vibrant activities surrounding the inauguration have also been scaled down due to health and security concerns.

The inauguration party is also not held and there will be a special TV show on the evening of January 20 led by actor Tom Hanks, 90 minutes long, titled "Happy America" with many musical performances.
