The Japanese media in the middle of the month reported that Yamagami sent a letter to a man living in the Chugoku region, west of Japan, to express the discontent with the unified Church and the intention of assassinating former Prime Minister Abe Abe

At the beginning of the letter from Okayama province, Yamagami wrote that he craved to own a gun to attack Mr. Abe.

However, Yamagami also wrote that the former Japanese Prime Minister was not his original enemy, affirming that he hated more sectarian leaders.

Yamagami was arrested at the scene with a homemade gun on hand on July 8 after shooting Mr. Abe.

Prosecutors believe that Yamagami's mental state at the time of crime is an important factor.
